'UK Food & Drink helps feed the world' The North West is a major player in the supply and development of the Food and Drink sector within the UK. UKTI along with its partners in the North West is aiming to increase the value of Food & Drink export from the 2006 level of £826.3m to even higher values during 2008 and 2009.
The export in this sector cover a vast range of produce such as meats, fish, cereals, oil seeds and dairy. Whilst "other groceries" such as sauces and condiments are increasingly taking a significant share of exports, plus of course a wide selection of drink products both alcoholic and otherwise. One specialist sub-sector which has been of major interest to overseas customers is the Organic and Health foods & drinks and UKTI expect this high level of interest to continue.
Markets identified as of high potential to North West exporters include Ireland, USA, Spain, Belgium, France and Germany. Other markets China, India and the Middle East are also seen by UKTI as offering significant potential to North West exporters.
